Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has launched a probe into concerns raised about the poor quality of a 4.76-kilometre road project in the Aduramigba Community, Ido-Osun. The move comes in response to a peaceful protest held by local residents on Friday, who decried the lack of proper drainage and subpar construction. Protesters held placards demanding accountability and better infrastructure.
Community leader Sunday Ogundele highlighted the road’s failure, citing damage caused by rainfall shortly after asphalt was laid, as evidence of poor workmanship.
Following Governor Adeleke’s directive, senior officials from the Ministry of Works, Ministry of Rural Development, and the Osun Rural Access and Mobility Project visited the site for an initial inspection. They assured the community that the road would be reassessed and necessary corrections would follow.
The officials were also tasked with engaging the contractor and project supervisors to gather comprehensive details. A full report with findings and recommendations is expected by Monday. The state government is also considering additional development efforts for the area.
