The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has once again distanced itself from former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following his recent claims that he supported the party during the 2023 elections. In a strongly worded statement, the SDP described El-Rufai’s remarks as misleading and untrue, emphasizing that he neither played a role in the party’s campaign nor contributed to its success at any level.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Rufus Aiyenigba, reaffirmed that El-Rufai is not a member of the SDP and has never been involved in its political affairs. He cautioned the former governor against making statements that distort historical facts and misrepresent the party’s journey.
The SDP urged the public to disregard El-Rufai’s assertions, noting that the party remains focused on its core values and independent political agenda. This is not the first time the party has had to correct the public record regarding El-Rufai’s affiliations.
