Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has urged global leaders to embrace justice and meaningful dialogue as essential tools for fostering sustainable peace. Speaking during the President’s Night of the Rotary Club of Asokoro in Abuja, Jonathan stressed that true peace cannot be achieved through violence or suppression but through addressing deep-rooted social, political, and economic inequalities.
He commended the Rotary Club for its dedication to humanitarian service and conflict resolution, highlighting that inclusive governance and fairness must be at the heart of peacebuilding efforts. Reflecting on his time in office, Jonathan pointed to milestones such as the enrollment of female cadets in the Nigerian Defence Academy as part of his push for equality and national unity.
He also acknowledged the critical role women play in nation-building, celebrating the achievements of leading female bankers who were recognized at the event. Jonathan concluded by reaffirming his belief that dialogue and justice remain the cornerstones of lasting peace both in Nigeria and across the world.
