President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Lagos to host the concluding events of ECOWAS’s 50th anniversary. The celebrations, which began earlier in Accra, Ghana, are culminating in Lagos with significant activities. A key highlight is the symbolic reenactment of the 1975 ECOWAS founding declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) on Victoria Island. Former Nigerian Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, the only surviving signatory of the founding treaty, is set to deliver a commemorative address during the formal event at Eko Hotels.
Beyond the anniversary events, President Tinubu is also focusing on showcasing infrastructural achievements. He is expected to inaugurate completed projects such as Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road, and the 7th Axial Road. Additionally, he will perform the groundbreaking for Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, aiming to enhance connectivity and boost economic activities across Nigeria’s coastal states. The President will also virtually inaugurate several road projects across the northern region, including the Kano-Kanwar-Danja-Hadejiya Section II Road and the Yakasai-Zalli Road.
Before returning to Abuja, President Tinubu plans to observe Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House Mosque in Dodan Barracks, Ikoy
