Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has issued a stern warning: the South‑East risk revisiting its membership of the Peoples Democratic Party unless the party readdresses its ongoing leadership turmoil .
In a closed-door meeting at the Enugu Government House, Gov Mbah lamented what he described as an “endless circus” within the PDP. Adding that the region feels increasingly sidelined, he stressed that unless actions are taken, South‑East may formally consider a mass exit from the party.
Central to the crisis is the dispute over the PDP’s national secretary post. The South‑East zonal committee had backed Sunday Udeh‑Okoye in a communiqué, but the National Working Committee appears to be leaning toward reinstating Samuel Anyanwu.
Although Gov Mbah reaffirmed his personal commitment to the PDP, he insisted that the party must demonstrate respect for the South‑East’s position, or face the serious prospect of losing the region’s support.
