The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 74 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Abuja. The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation led by the anti-graft agency’s Abuja Zonal Command. Acting on credible intelligence, EFCC operatives raided multiple locations across the city, leading to the mass arrest. During the operation, various items believed to be tools of cybercrime were seized. These include mobile phones, laptops, luxury vehicles, and other electronic gadgets. The EFCC revealed that preliminary investigations are underway, and the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to curbing cybercrime and warned young Nigerians to steer clear of illegal digital activities. The crackdown underscores the EFCC’s continued resolve to tackle financial crimes and restore integrity to the digital and financial space in Nigeria.
