The Osun State Government has rejected the purported inauguration of Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, as the new chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, declaring the exercise null and void.
The government clarified that Governor Ademola Adeleke neither dissolved the existing NURTW leadership nor authorised the appointment of a caretaker committee. It stressed that the current executive led by Nuru Alowonle remains the only recognised leadership of the union in Osun State.
According to the state, the recent suspension of NURTW activities across motor parks was a security measure aimed at preventing violence and maintaining public order. Officials explained that the directive was wrongly interpreted by some individuals as an opportunity to install a new leadership for the union.
The government urged members of the public and stakeholders to disregard claims of a change in the union’s leadership, insisting that only the nationally recognised executive headed by Alowonle remains valid until any official decision is taken by the appropriate authorities.
