Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commended the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi (Odundun II), for a decade of peaceful and progressive leadership. Speaking at the 10th anniversary of the monarch’s ascension to the throne, Aiyedatiwa praised the royal father for his immense contributions to maintaining peace and fostering development in Akure and its surrounding areas.
The event, which drew dignitaries and residents from across the state, featured a colorful parade and awards presentation in honor of the Deji’s achievements. Governor Aiyedatiwa lauded the traditional institution’s collaboration with the state government and reaffirmed the importance of continued synergy in building a prosperous future for Akure.
As part of his address, the governor assured the people of Akure of the government’s commitment to executing major capital projects that would enhance the city’s status as a state capital. He urged citizens to support his administration’s development agenda and work together in unity to move Akure forward.
In a separate remark, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, who is also a native of Akure, encouraged the youth to pursue skills and entrepreneurial knowledge. He revealed plans for a national strategy that ensures students acquire at least two practical skills before graduation, in partnership with international bodies like the UAE.
Meanwhile, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, was among those honored during the celebration. He expressed deep gratitude for the recognition from his hometown, describing it as a significant and emotional highlight of his career. He pledged to continue contributing to the growth and progress of Akure.
