Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has resigned from office following allegations of certificate forgery. The resignation, which was accepted by President Bola Tinubu, was confirmed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Nnaji submitted his resignation letter to the President, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to serve in the Federal Executive Council. He, however, claimed that he had become a victim of political blackmail orchestrated by certain individuals determined to tarnish his image.
Although the presidency did not disclose details of the forgery allegations, reports indicate that the issue generated intense public scrutiny and pressure, prompting Nnaji’s decision to step down. The presidency has since acknowledged his service and wished him well in his future endeavours.
