On May 20, 2025, a student on his way to take the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Ibadan, Oyo State, was reportedly killed by a stray bullet. The incident occurred on the Gbagi Market road in Egbeda Local Government Area when a police officer, allegedly chasing a suspect, discharged a bullet that struck the student. Witnesses said the victim was riding on a motorcycle with his father and twin brother at the time.
