Former Ekiti State Governor and ex-minister, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has sharply criticized the federal government for failing to release any funds from the 2025 national budget as of May. Speaking at a public policy forum, Fayemi lamented that the complete lack of disbursement is stalling essential development projects and worsening economic stagnation.
He noted that although the ₦47.9 trillion budget was signed months ago, the delay in releasing funds has made implementation impossible. Fayemi warned that such inaction threatens progress in both infrastructure and human capital development, as ministries and agencies are left idle due to the funding vacuum.
He emphasized the urgent need for greater fiscal discipline, transparency, and timely execution of public spending plans to restore trust and drive national growth.
