FG Declares 3-Day National Fasting and Prayer for Food Security

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has announced a three-day period of prayer and fasting aimed at tackling Nigeria’s worsening food crisis. The spiritual exercise is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 16, 2025, and will involve both Christians and Muslims across the country.

According to the ministry, the initiative is part of efforts to seek divine intervention for improved food production, stable prices, and overall national food security. Staff members have been encouraged to participate in the prayers at designated venues, with Christian prayers to be held at the Agric Ministry’s conference hall in Abuja and Muslim prayers at the Central Mosque, Abuja.

The move comes amid growing concerns over food inflation, insecurity in farming regions, and climate challenges affecting agricultural output nationwide.
