The daughter of late former Oyo State Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has filed a legal request at the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan seeking the exhumation of her father’s remains for a DNA test. The move is aimed at confirming the biological relationship between her and some of her siblings amid an ongoing property dispute within the family.
Identified as Oyindamola Alao-Akala, the daughter is pressing for a paternity test to resolve doubts about lineage, which have reportedly fueled disagreements over inheritance. In the court documents, she claimed that resolving the DNA issue is crucial to determining rightful heirs in light of the late governor’s estate division.
The legal action has stirred public interest, given the high-profile nature of the Alao-Akala family and the sensitive cultural implications of exhuming a deceased loved one. As the matter unfolds, it highlights the rising trend of intra-family legal battles over assets and legitimacy, even in prominent Nigerian families.
