President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern directive to Nigeria’s security forces: crush Boko Haram and disrupt its cycle of violence. His declaration came in the aftermath of a deadly female suicide bomber’s attack at an eatery in Konduga, Borno State, which claimed 24 lives . At the same time, a mob in Plateau State brutally killed 13 travellers from Kaduna, prompting Tinubu to condemn both atrocities as “cowardly” and “barbaric”.
Expressing his condolences to grieving families and the wider communities in Borno and Kaduna, Tinubu urged close coordination between Plateau’s Governor Caleb Mutfwang and national agencies to address the root causes of such violence. He also demanded emergency relief efforts, instructing NEMA to support survivors, while affirming that freedom of movement remains a constitutional right under threat from insurgents.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna echoed the urgency, labelling the Plateau killings “savagery” and insisting security agencies must swiftly bring perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, Governor Mutfwang has formed a committee to liaise with Kaduna authorities and directed hospitals to offer free care to victims, while encouraging calm and warning against vigilante retaliation.
