Former Senate President, David Mark, has urged opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, to approach the 2027 presidential race with caution and a united front. Mark emphasized the need for serious internal dialogue among opposition leaders to avoid repeating past mistakes that led to disjointed campaigns and electoral defeat.
His remarks come as the Federal Government criticized the newly-formed opposition coalition, accusing its leaders of desperation and personal ambition rather than genuine concern for national progress. According to the FG, the coalition lacks a clear agenda and is merely a power-seeking alliance built on convenience.
Meanwhile, sources close to the opposition hinted at growing mistrust among key figures in the alliance, particularly between Atiku and Obi, over who will lead the joint ticket. As the 2027 race intensifies, political observers warn that disunity could again hand the advantage to the ruling party.
