Buhari Targeted My Allies After 2015 Polls – Jonathan Alleges

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has claimed that the administration of his successor, Muhammadu Buhari, launched a deliberate campaign against his close allies following the 2015 presidential election.

Jonathan made this assertion during a meeting with journalists after being accused of failing to act against corruption during his tenure. He stated that many individuals who worked closely with him were unfairly hounded and investigated, which he believes was politically motivated.

Jonathan emphasized that while he supports the fight against corruption, it must be done within the confines of the law and not used as a tool for persecution. The ex-president also rejected the narrative that his government was soft on corruption, saying that under his watch, several anti-corruption initiatives were implemented and supported. He called for a more just and balanced approach to governance, especially in how former administrations are treated by their successors.
