Governor Sim Fubara, upon his reinstatement on September 18, 2025, has demanded prompt payment of unpaid August salaries owed to local government employees in Rivers State.
A verification exercise was conducted for workers and pensioners last month, during which many reported that they had not received their August pay.
The delay was linked to the discovery of an inflated wage bill, officials say.
To resolve the issue, Governor Fubara has ordered that all verified local government staff and pensioners be paid immediately. He has also tasked personnel heads across the state’s 23 local government areas to compile full, accurate lists of legitimate workers.
