In a recent mission, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out nighttime airstrikes that eliminated more than 25 terrorists in targeted zones within Yobe and the Banki axis of Borno.
The offensive, authorised from intelligence gathered by ground forces, took place on September 18. It combined surveillance and reconnaissance assets along with precision strike aircraft to track the movement of terrorist groups.
During the operation, three distinct aerial attacks were launched against the terrorists’ routes and gathering spots. After the strikes, continuous monitoring confirmed that the air force had successfully neutralised the threat with no further hostile activity detected.
Officials say the operation highlights the Air Force’s strong support for ground troops and its ongoing mission to deny terrorists safe zones and mobility in Nigeria’s North-East region.
In a related development, on September 8, a Boko Haram raid on Darajamal community in Bama (Borno State) resulted in the deaths of at least 63 people, including 5 soldiers. Homes and vehicles were also destroyed in the attack.
