The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has disbursed a total of ₦2.001 trillion to the three tiers of government as revenue generated in July 2025. The allocation was shared among the Federal Government, 36 states, and 774 local government councils during the committee’s meeting held in Abuja.
The revenue distribution came from several streams, including ₦1.282 trillion from statutory allocations, ₦640.610 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), ₦37.601 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and ₦39.745 billion as exchange differential gains.
From the disbursed sum, the Federal Government received ₦735.081 billion, states collected ₦660.349 billion, while local government councils got ₦485.039 billion. Additionally, oil-producing states shared ₦120.359 billion as derivation revenue, representing 13 percent of mineral revenue.
Breaking it down further, the Federal Government received ₦613.805 billion from statutory revenue, ₦96.092 billion from VAT, ₦5.640 billion from EMTL, and ₦19.544 billion from exchange gains. States got ₦311.330 billion from statutory revenue, ₦320.305 billion from VAT, ₦18.801 billion from EMTL, and ₦9.913 billion from exchange gains. Local government councils, on their part, received ₦240.023 billion from statutory revenue, ₦224.214 billion from VAT, ₦13.160 billion from EMTL, and ₦7.643 billion from exchange difference. Oil-producing states also shared ₦117.714 billion from statutory allocation and ₦2.643 billion from exchange differential gains.
The committee noted that July 2025 witnessed increases in Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Oil and Gas royalties, EMTL, and excise duties. However, while VAT and import duty
