African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed recent criticisms by Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, describing them as his personal views and not reflective of broader political realities.
Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, had accused the coalition of misleading Nigerians and called for Peter Obi to return to the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 elections.In a swift response, ADC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Jackie Wayas, reiterated that the coalition is a product of wide consultations involving notable figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Nasir el-Rufai, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi. She emphasized that the alliance is committed to putting Nigeria’s interest above partisan politics and remains resolute in its mission to provide competent and compassionate leadership.
The ADC also noted that Obi has publicly declared his loyalty to the coalition and endorsed the party as the platform through which he will pursue his presidential ambition in 2027. The party insisted that the coalition represents a united front for national progress and stability.While dismissing Baba-Ahmed’s comments as individual opinion, the ADC extended an invitation to him to join the coalition. The party described him as a respected figure whose participation would further strengthen their cause in building a credible alternative for Nigerians.
