The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a baby factory in the Ijegun region of the state and has rescued 10 individuals.
Additionally, three suspects were apprehended. The command's spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, informed reporters of this on Monday. Hundeyin mentioned that the illegal operation was brought to light after the police received a tip-off last Saturday.
He stated that officers promptly responded to the location to rescue the individuals from the Lagos baby factory. Among the adult victims were Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26).
The children who were rescued include Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2). All individuals freed are currently receiving appropriate care and support.
Hundeyin noted that the suspects confessed during interrogation that they had abducted the victims from various locations in the state to operate the baby factory.
He mentioned that the investigation is ongoing and that the suspects will be subjected to judicial proceedings.
The police reported the safe rescue of the victims on March 29 following a collaborative effort with local teams and security forces. The victims were swiftly reunited with their families, and the situation in the area has since stabilized.
