A group of angry women from Oke-Ere in the Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State gathered on Wednesday to express their frustration over what they described as the “endless reign of terror” in their community.
Many of the women, mostly elderly, processed through the town with sorrowful chants in their local dialect.
In a video shared by PUNCH Online on Wednesday, they were seen partially undressed, wielding sticks and leaves as they lamented and sang about the ongoing assaults, abductions, and murders occurring in their area.
They pleaded with the government and security forces to intervene promptly and put an end to the violence.
This demonstration follows a recent incident in which armed attackers kidnapped three individuals and injured four others on the Ayere-Kabba Expressway in March.
The injured individuals were subsequently taken to St. John’s Hospital in Kabba for medical care.
