…as Afenifere urges FG to restructure Nigeria, citing worsening insecurity

The Head of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has asserted that insecurity in Ondo State will soon be resolved.
Adeleye credited the advancements to the backing of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, stating that the governor has provided all necessary resources to triumph over insecurity.
He emphasized that Amotekun, working alongside other security agencies, cannot let down the governor or the residents of the state.
The commander expressed this commitment on Sunday during a birthday thanksgiving service in his honor at Favour Generational Church, Akure.
The celebration coincided with the thanksgiving service organized by the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
Adeleye mentioned that all required tools and support for the corps to succeed have been made available by Governor Aiyedatiwa.
In his remarks, he acknowledged the growing concern regarding security issues nationwide, reflecting recent concerns voiced by the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere.
Afenifere, during its meeting on Saturday, had raised alarms about the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria and the failure of successive governments to pursue true federalism through restructuring.
Following a caucus meeting held at the Akure residence of its National Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, OFR, Afenifere reiterated that restructuring is the most effective solution to Nigeria's various problems.
The meeting, conducted by Basorun Seinde Arogbofa, OFR, included representatives from state chapters, including those from Kogi and Kwara States.
In the communiqué signed by Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, the organization expressed significant concern over the resurgence of banditry, kidnapping, and extrajudicial killings throughout the nation, especially in the South-West States, including Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Lagos, Ekiti, and Oyo.
In a different setting, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the state's security framework and promised ongoing support for all security agencies to fight criminal activities and ensure the safety of all law-abiding citizens.
Echoing the governor’s viewpoint, Adeleye stated, “My boss, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has significantly improved Amotekun in every aspect. He is determined, committed, and focused on making Ondo the safest state in Nigeria.”
Attributing the corps' achievements to divine intervention, Adeleye recounted how he and his team recently evaded several ambushes by criminals, shortly after his birthday.
He praised the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and NAWOJ for their cooperation and positive reporting on the Amotekun Corps, vowing never to jeopardize the safety of the citizens in the state.
“I have never, and will never, make deals that could endanger the lives of our people,” he pledged.
During a sermon titled “Unlimited Praise,” Pastor Julius Abiodun highlighted the strength of praise, indicating that it leads to victories and breakthroughs. He commended NAWOJ for recognizing their achievements as God's work and encouraged them to maintain that mindset.
The Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, and the Chairperson of the celebration planning committee, Comrade Foluke Amodu, were also present.
