Lamido Demands Wike’s Expulsion from PDP, Citing Betrayal and Party Sabotage
Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State and a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for the immediate expulsion of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, from the party. In a phone interview with Vanguard, Lamido labeled Wike a “disaster” and a threat to the party’s integrity, expressing deep dissatisfaction with the current direction of the PDP. He announced his withdrawal from all PDP leadership meetings, specifically objecting to the inclusion of Wike and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), which he deemed unacceptable.
Lamido criticized Wike’s alleged role in the temporary closure of the PDP National Secretariat, describing it as a betrayal of the party that had elevated him politically. He dismissed Wike’s claims of financially supporting the party, arguing that funding does not equate to ownership or loyalty. Lamido also commended President Bola Tinubu for reopening the PDP Secretariat, suggesting that this action highlighted Wike’s lack of political maturity.
Furthermore, Lamido accused Ortom of supporting Labour Party’s Peter Obi during the last presidential election and criticized PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu for remaining in office despite allegations of disloyalty. He urged the party’s National Working Committee to take decisive action by expelling Wike and others who have openly undermined the party, stating that he would not participate in any PDP leadership meetings until such measures are taken.
