Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a major shake‑up in Nigeria’s fuel supply system, set to launch on 15 August 2025. The refinery will kickstart direct distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel to petrol stations, manufacturers, telecom and aviation firms, among other bulk consumers—completely free of logistics charges .
To support this initiative, Dangote is deploying 4,000 state‑of‑the‑art CNG‑powered tankers, along with over 100 “daughter” CNG tanker trucks and strategically located booster stations across the country . Sourcing fuel directly from the refinery will slash distribution costs, enhance energy efficiency, promote sustainability, and improve fuel access nationwide .
Buyers who purchase at least 500,000 litres will qualify for a two‑week credit on an additional 500,000 litres, secured by a bank guarantee—a boost for large users . The move is aimed at rejuvenating quiet petrol stations, generating jobs, supporting SMEs, increasing government revenues, and drawing investor interest in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector .
This ground‑breaking plan aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and benefits from backing under the Naira‑for‑Crude initiative . Stakeholders—including marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecoms companies, and aviation firms—can begin KYC registration from 16 June to 15 August .
