Sokoto Governor Converts May Salaries into Soft Loans, Ensures June Pay Hits Accounts June 30

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has directed that the May 2025 salaries, which were disbursed early ahead of the Eid-el-Adha festivities, be reclassified as a soft loan to be repaid in three monthly installments. This move, announced via a statement from Press Secretary Abubakar Bawa on June 27, aims to ease the financial burden many civil servants face after significant religious celebrations .

Aliyu explained that the decision was prompted by the “financial challenges” workers often encounter post-Sallah, and assured that spreading repayment over three months would make it more manageable.

As part of the broader relief package, the governor also ordered the immediate disbursement of the June 2025 salaries for all categories of employees—state, local government staff, education authority personnel, and pensioners—starting Monday, June 30.

Highlighting the administration’s renewed focus on public service welfare, Governor Aliyu reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing the civil service. He encouraged employees to match the government’s gesture with improved dedication, punctuality, and discipline in their duties. He also expressed gratitude to the people of Sokoto State for their continued support and pledged ongoing delivery of democratic dividends.
