Kwara United and Rivers Angels have been crowned champions of the 2024 Federation Cup after two action-packed finals held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos. Kwara United secured their maiden Federation Cup title in a tense 1-0 victory over fellow NPFL side Abia Warriors, courtesy of a second-half strike by Ejeh Isaiah. The win marks a historic achievement for the club and grants them a ticket to represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In the women’s final, Rivers Angels asserted their dominance with a 1-0 triumph over Naija Ratels. The Port Harcourt-based team, one of Nigeria’s most successful female clubs, added yet another title to their collection. The match-winner came from Blessing Okpe, who converted a decisive penalty in the first half.
The double-header event drew notable dignitaries including the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials. Fans were treated to a spirited display of football talent, marking a memorable climax to the nation’s oldest cup competition.
