Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called on his loyalists to embrace a new peace agreement with Minister Nyesom Wike, warning that maintaining unity in the state will come with significant trade‑offs .
Speaking to his “Simplified Family” in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara emphasised that past conflicts have run their course, and achieving harmony now demands tough choices . “I said there’s no price too big for peace — I meant it,” he stressed, urging supporters to “prepare for a sacrifice that will be heavy” .
He acknowledged Wike’s role in his political ascent and struggle, recognising the risk Wike took and emphasising that reconciliation, even if difficult, is the only path forward .
Fubara also reassured his followers that despite the concessions, he remains committed to them: “I will not abandon anybody,” he insisted . He pointed out that ongoing disputes have stalled key projects across the state—so unity is essential for development .
He noted that President Tinubu has personally intervened, directing both him and Wike to reconcile . Fubara appealed to his supporters to step beyond individual grievances and rally for a collective future, invoking a local proverb about tilapia to illustrate that growth sometimes requires humility and patience .
In closing, he reminded his “Simplified Family” that the state’s peace depends on acceptance and unity—adding that this heavy sacrifice is both necessary and non-negotiable if Rivers State is to move forward .
