The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will convene its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on July 24, 2025 to settle the question of who will fill the void left by outgoing National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
Over the weekend, Ganduje stepped down from his position, citing health concerns, prompting the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) to appoint Dr. Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), as Acting National Chairman. Party officials, including Deputy National Secretary Festus Fuanter, emphasized that only the NEC—the party’s highest decision-making body—can formally endorse a new chair, with Dalori to hold the reins until either NEC’s appointment or the party convention.
Party leaders also used the NWC meeting to update members on preparations for upcoming by‑elections in wards, state assemblies, and national legislature seats, pledging full support for APC candidates.
Dalori outlined his vision for revitalizing the party, focusing on grassroots engagement, internal discipline, and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections. He additionally reaffirmed APC’s steadfast backing of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” describing it as a “living roadmap” for national transformation.
Deputy Secretary Basiru confirmed the formal acceptance of Ganduje’s resignation, in accordance with APC’s constitution, which also facilitated Dalori’s rise as Acting Chairman.
