Amid the ongoing power tussle in Kano’s emirate, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has raised an alarm over an attempted breach of the palace gate by supporters of the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. Sanusi, who was reinstated by the Kano State government in May, disclosed that his safety and the sanctity of the emir’s residence are under threat.
The Emir made this revelation while addressing members of the Tijjaniyya Sufi order in Kano. According to him, Bayero’s loyalists tried to force their way into the main gate of the palace, disrupting peace and security. He emphasized that such actions pose a serious risk to the unity and stability of the ancient emirate.
Sanusi also warned that the emirate should not be dragged into political conflicts or used as a tool for personal interests. He reaffirmed his commitment to leading the people with justice and integrity, urging traditional and religious leaders to uphold peace and avoid inciting divisions. The tense situation continues as both factions remain steadfast in their claims to the throne.
