Senate Awaits Court Judgment Copy as Senator Natasha Eyes Return

The Nigerian Senate is yet to receive the official certified true copy of the recent court ruling regarding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, even as the lawmaker makes plans to resume her legislative duties. The Senate Spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, stated that the upper chamber would act only after it has reviewed the court’s detailed judgment.

This development follows the recent Appeal Court ruling that nullified the Senate’s earlier disciplinary action against Senator Natasha. The court held that the Senate’s decision, which included barring her from plenary, was unconstitutional without due process. However, Adaramodu emphasized that the Senate needs the physical judgment to guide its next course of action.

Meanwhile, Senator Natasha has expressed her readiness to return to the Red Chamber, pending the formal implementation of the court’s verdict. Her suspension earlier sparked public and legal debate, with many calling for adherence to democratic principles in handling internal legislative disputes.
