Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Wukari, successfully dismantled a gunrunning syndicate in southern Taraba State. The operation was based on solid intelligence pinpointing illegal arms activity in Byepi Village along Tsukundi Road in Wukari Local Government Area.
During the raid, the troops arrested two suspects—55‑year‑old Buba Idi and 29‑year‑old Isiyaka Yusufa. Authorities recovered an AK‑47 rifle, one magazine, 16 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, and a Bajaj motorcycle . The suspects are currently held for preliminary interrogation.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 (Operation Whirl Stroke), praised the unit for its swift and professional execution. He emphasized that the bust is part of the ongoing campaign to disrupt illegal arms circulation and fortify security across the state.
General Uwa reiterated the Nigerian Army’s resolve to make Taraba State inhospitable to criminal networks. He also commended residents of the state for their cooperation and urged continued sharing of credible, timely intelligence with security agencies to support preventive operations.
