South African Airways (SAA) has announced an increase in its flight frequencies to Lagos and other destinations to meet rising passenger demand during the busy festive season.
Beginning October 6, 2025, the Johannesburg–Lagos route will operate six times a week, with additional services scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays. The move is expected to provide travelers with more flexibility and convenience as they plan trips for family visits, business, and major cultural events across the region.
In addition to Lagos, the Johannesburg–Accra route will also expand to six weekly flights from October 1, 2025, with new departures on Wednesdays and Fridays. Furthermore, seasonal increases will be introduced on the Johannesburg–São Paulo route starting December 10, 2025, with extra flights on Wednesdays and Sundays running until February 11, 2026.
SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane, explained that the expansion is part of the airline’s commitment to strengthening its network and delivering greater value to customers. He noted that passengers can look forward to enhanced travel experiences, including transparent fares, Voyager miles on every flight, premium lounge access, and the airline’s signature African hospitality.
The airline emphasized that the adjustments are aimed at ensuring smoother travel during peak periods such as “Detty December,” AfroFuture, and the lead-up to the Brazilian Carnival, while reaffirming its mission to remain a reliable choice for regional and international travelers.
