Veteran singer, Queen Salawa Abeni, has dismissed rumours of her death, assuring fans and loved ones that she is very much alive. The Waka music legend took to Instagram to share videos of herself at a recent performance, adding that those spreading false news about her demise will not succeed.
In a strongly worded message, Abeni expressed gratitude to her family, friends, and supporters both at home and abroad for their concern. She stated clearly that she is “alive, hail and hearty,” while urging the public to ignore the misleading reports.
The singer also condemned the actions of blogs and individuals who spread such unverified stories simply to attract attention. She reminded her followers that she remains in good health and continues to thrive in her music career.
This latest incident adds to the list of false death rumours surrounding Nigerian celebrities, including actor Chiwetalu Agu and music icon Ebenezer Obey, who both recently had to publicly clarify that they were alive.
Salawa Abeni, who rose to fame in 1976 with her debut album, remains celebrated as the undisputed “Queen of Waka,” a title that continues to define her remarkable career.
