The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered a clandestine baby-factory and human-trafficking ring operating in Ore, situated within the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to a police statement, a 17-year-old girl from Ikot Ekpan in Akwa Ibom State was trafficked to Ore on October 21, 2025, under the guise of a job opportunity. Upon arrival she was taken to what was purported to be a clinic, but which turned out to be the baby-factory where pregnant girls were being held for exploitation.
During the raid conducted by operatives from the Ore Division in conjunction with the Command’s Gender-Based Violence Unit, five pregnant girls and one baby boy were rescued. One of the victims had already given birth and is receiving post-natal care at the General Hospital, Ore; the others are in protective police custody.
Investigations revealed that the mastermind, identified as Ada Clement (“F”), admitted to running the facility where the newborns were sold. Female babies were traded for a minimum of ₦400,000, while male babies fetched at least ₦600,000.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has mandated a thorough and discreet investigation to ensure that all members of this trafficking syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice. Efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing accomplices across the region.
