OMOTOLA IBUKUN AND BOLUWATIFE SHINES AS OAUSTECH CAME FIRST AT FST NATIONAL COMPETITION

OAUSTECH Students Achieve Victory in FST National Competition

Two students from the Food Science and Technology (FST) program at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) in Okitipupa, Omotola Ibukun (500-level) and Benjamin Boluwatife (400-level), have secured the first place in the Professor Hafiz Abubakar Inter-University Quiz Competition for FST students nationwide.

This competition was part of the activities that took place during the 49th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), organized alongside the Nigerian Association of Food Science and Technology Students (NAFSTS) at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, from October 19th to 24th, 2025.

According to the event organizers, the quiz aimed to evaluate the intellectual creativity and scientific knowledge of FST students across Nigeria, aligning with the conference theme, “Empowering The Future: Gen Z Driven Sustainable Food Innovation and Futuristic Approach for Economic, Social, and National Advancement.”

Upon receiving the news, OAUSTECH’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, expressed his congratulations to the students for their ingenuity, determination, excellent performance, and hard work. He also praised the leadership of the department and school for their efforts, calling the achievement very heartwarming.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that this accomplishment is a testament to the quality of mentorship and teaching provided by the department, further highlighting the institution’s commitment to producing capable and innovative graduates of the 21st century.

Additionally, the Dean of the School of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Prof. Orimoloye Ipoola Faleyimu, congratulated the FST students on their outstanding success, describing it as a reflection of the department’s dedication to academic excellence and the steadfast commitment of its faculty members.

In a similar vein, Dr. Clement Ogidi, the Coordinator of the FST Department, praised the students for their exceptional performance and display of remarkable intellectual capability, stating, “The Department is thrilled that you applied the knowledge and skills obtained in the classroom to succeed and outperform your peers from other universities in Nigeria.”

The event was attended by OAUSTECH’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Prof. Foluso Adetuyi, the founder/sponsor of the competition, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, and NIFST President, Dr. Bola Osinowo, among others.
