The Senate on Wednesday paused the confirmation process of minister-nominee Kingsley Udeh, citing the absence of his mandatory security clearance. Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the announcement during plenary, stating that they cannot proceed until the required security report is in hand.
This decision comes shortly after President Bola Ahmad Tinubu formally requested the Senate to confirm Udeh’s appointment. Akpabio also read a letter to the Senate noting that Udeh from Enugu State had been nominated for a ministerial role, but highlighted that the vetting process remains incomplete.
Until the security clearance process is concluded, the Senate has deferred further action on Udeh’s confirmation.
