President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh roster of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
The submission — sent in two separate letters to Senate President Godswill Akpabio — comprises 15 diplomatic-career officers and 17 non-career appointees. Among the non-career set are highly recognizable names: former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Mahmood Yakubu; ex-Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode; former presidential aide and commentator Reno Omokri; as well as lawmaker and businessman Jimoh Ibrahim.
Other prominent individuals on the list include ex-state governors, former deputy governors, ex-legislators, commissioners and past ambassadors.
This new set follows a previous smaller batch of three nominees sent for confirmation just last week, with plans for further diplomatic appointments hinted.
