Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has firmly rejected allegations that he stole public funds during his time as Governor of Rivers State or in his current ministerial role. He described the claims as false, malicious, and driven by individuals he said are being sponsored to undermine his reputation and disrupt progress in Abuja.
Wike insisted that at no point in his public service career did he divert taxpayers’ money for personal gain, stressing that his record in office is open to scrutiny. According to him, the accusations are not rooted in facts but in political hostility from those uncomfortable with his style of leadership and reform agenda.
The minister accused his critics of deliberately attempting to slow down development in the Federal Capital Territory, arguing that visible infrastructure projects and administrative reforms have exposed their intentions. He maintained that the ongoing transformation in Abuja has unsettled vested interests who previously benefited from inefficiency.
Reaffirming his commitment to transparency and service, Wike urged the public to judge him by tangible results rather than what he called orchestrated smear campaigns. He added that his focus remains on delivering projects and policies that improve the lives of residents, despite what he described as sustained attacks from political opponents.
