Having lived in Ogun State for over two decades and reported the activities of the Nigeria Police Force for more than ten years, I can confidently say that I have rarely witnessed the level of enthusiasm, professionalism, strategic leadership, and operational effectiveness currently being demonstrated by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni.
Since assuming office, CP Ojajuni has brought renewed energy to policing in the Gateway State. His leadership style reflects a clear commitment to intelligence-led policing, officers’ welfare, stakeholder engagement, and the relentless pursuit of criminal elements threatening the peace and security of residents.
One of the most significant indicators of this commitment is the recent breakthrough recorded by operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit. Through sustained intelligence gathering and meticulous investigations, the police successfully neutralized two suspected kidnappers and arrested a notorious kidnapping kingpin, Seriki Mohammed Abdullahi, alongside an accomplice. The operation also led to the recovery of sophisticated weapons, ammunition, suspected ransom proceeds, and other incriminating exhibits linked to the criminal syndicate.
The successful operation was connected to the kidnapping of three persons at Atan-Ijebu in May 2026. While the victims regained their freedom unharmed, the command did not relent in its efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. The eventual dismantling of the gang sends a strong message that Ogun State is becoming increasingly hostile to criminal enterprises under CP Ojajuni’s watch.
Similarly, the command recently recorded another major success in the fight against armed robbery and vehicle theft. Operatives of the Ifo and Sango Divisions arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered three stolen vehicles, live cartridges, and foreign currencies. The operation highlighted the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-divisional collaboration being promoted by the current police leadership.
Beyond crime fighting, CP Ojajuni has demonstrated a deep appreciation for the welfare and morale of police personnel and their families. This was evident during his reception of members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Ogun state Chapter. During the visit, he acknowledged the important role played by police families in supporting officers who daily confront the challenges of law enforcement. His commitment to officers’ welfare has earned him admiration within and outside the Force.
The Commissioner has also continued to strengthen partnerships with local and international stakeholders. A recent courtesy visit by a delegation from the Chinese Consulate underscored the growing confidence in the command’s capacity to provide security for investors and foreign nationals operating in Ogun State. The visit further enhanced diplomatic and security cooperation, while the donation of communication equipment by the Consulate is expected to improve operational coordination and emergency response capabilities.
As a journalist who has observed successive administrations within the Ogun State Police Command, it is evident that CP Bode Ojajuni has embraced a proactive and result-oriented approach to policing. His emphasis on intelligence gathering, stakeholder collaboration, officers’ welfare, and community engagement is gradually yielding measurable results.
When I reflect on his numerous achievements and remarkable breakthroughs in recent times, I felt compelled to take a closer look at his professional background. I then discovered that he has served in several strategic and highly demanding positions that have undoubtedly prepared him for leadership responsibilities such as commanding a state like Ogun.
Notably, he served at Interpol Lagos and was also a member of the Interpol African Committee. These experiences, among many others, have clearly equipped him with the expertise, exposure, and leadership capacity that continue to reflect in his outstanding performance today.
While security challenges remain a constant reality in every society, the recent achievements of the Ogun State Police Command suggest that the state is on a promising path. Residents can only hope that the momentum generated by CP Ojajuni’s leadership will be sustained, leading to a safer and more secure Ogun State for all.
For now, the signs are encouraging, and the results speak for themselves.
