For the Osun state governorship election on August 15, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has established a 276-member national campaign council and 12 specialized subcommittees.
The campaign council is led by Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo state and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, according to a statement released on Sunday by Felix Morka, the APC national press secretary.
Co-chairmen will include Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
Barau Jibrin, the deputy president of the Senate, will act as secretary, and Ibrahim Masari, the president’s senior special advisor on political and other issues, was appointed deputy chairman.
Governors, ministers, national assembly principal officers, members of the national working committee (NWC), past governors, legislators, and other top party stakeholders from across the nation are also members of the campaign council.
The governor of Kwara, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Uba Sani of Kaduna; Babagana Zulum of Borno; Bassey Otu of Cross River; Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti; Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; Dapo Abiodun of Ogun; Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo; Monday Okpebholo of Edo; and Umaru Bago of Niger are among the notable members.
Atiku Bagudu is the minister of budget and economic planning; Femi Gbajabiamila is the president’s chief of staff; Lateef Fagbemi is the federation’s attorney general; Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is the interior minister; Bosun Tijani is the minister of communications, innovation, and the digital economy; and Taiwo Oyedele is the minister of finance.
The list also includes Dele Alake, the minister of solid minerals development; Sunday Dare, the president’s special adviser on media and public communications; Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy; and Zacch Adedeji, the chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS).
In order to manage various facets of its campaign, the APC also established twelve subcommittees.
Sanwo-Olu is in charge of the finance and resource mobilization committee, with Zacch Adedeji as secretary, while Uzodimma is in charge of the election preparation and management committee, with Monday Okpebholo as secretary.
Otu is in charge of the logistics and campaign management committee, while Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano, chairs the contact, grassroots engagement, and mobilization committee. The protocol committee is led by Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, while Sani serves as chair of the monitoring and compliance committee.
Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, chairs the media and publicity committee, while Morka is its secretary. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Tijani, Oyedele, Alake, Dare, and Onanuga are among its members.
Additional subcommittees include security, which is led by Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya and secretary Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives; youth mobilization, which is led by Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo; special interest (people with disabilities) mobilization, which is led by Bago; women’s mobilization, which is led by Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; and the secretariat committee, chaired by Ayoola Olajolo.
The party said the national campaign council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, in Abuja. The inauguration is scheduled to begin at 12 noon, ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
