A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bello Yakubu, has called for the establishment of additional technical and entrepreneurship-focused colleges in Kebbi State. Speaking during an event at Government Girls College in Bunza, he emphasized the critical role such institutions would play in addressing unemployment and enhancing skill development among youths in the region.
Yakubu, who represents Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, and Bunza federal constituency, highlighted that technical education is essential for equipping young Nigerians with practical skills that can lead to self-employment and industrial growth. He noted that many youths in the state remain jobless due to a lack of vocational and entrepreneurial training opportunities.
He urged both the federal and state governments to prioritize investment in technical and vocational education as a sustainable solution to youth restiveness and economic stagnation. According to him, the establishment of more such institutions would empower young people, reduce dependency, and stimulate local economic development.
The lawmaker also reiterated his commitment to supporting educational initiatives and skill acquisition programs that would enhance opportunities for his constituents.
