Mr. Olorunwa Simon Adegun, Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, is urging educational institutions across Ondo and Ekiti to forge stronger partnerships with industry leaders. Speaking at the second quarterly zonal SIWES meeting, he emphasized that aligning theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world experience is key to national growth and improving graduate employability .
He praised the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) for its contributions to hands‑on training during students’ industrial attachments, and lauded the Polytechnic’s SIWES Directorate for maintaining a focus on industry-specific education . Adegun also reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to practical training and urged regional institutions to expand their collaborations with industry to ensure students are career-ready .
QS Dr. Olumuyiwa Alabi, Director of SIWES at the Polytechnic, echoed the Rector’s sentiments and expressed gratitude to the ITF for their steadfast support . Grace Ajagbe, representing the ITF’s Akure area manager, commended the Polytechnic for hosting the event and reinforced the agency’s commitment to staff training and institutional development .
Among the attendees were key figures such as the Acting Registrar Mr. O.M. Oloye, Dean of Environmental Studies QS Mrs. M.M. Ologunagba, Administrative Assistant Mr. Gbenga Ademiluyi, and several former SIWES directors and coordinators from both states .
