Ex-Footballer Nabbed as NDLEA Dismantles Lagos, Kano Drug Syndicates

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled major drug syndicates operating in Lagos and Kano, arresting a former professional footballer among others. The former athlete, once based in Europe, was caught with illicit substances, marking a shocking twist in his post-sporting career.

NDLEA operatives made the arrest in Lagos during a targeted operation that exposed an international drug trafficking ring. In a separate bust in Kano, agents intercepted another syndicate responsible for distributing large quantities of controlled substances across northern Nigeria.

Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Retd), NDLEA Chairman, commended the operatives for their diligence and reiterated the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug networks nationwide. He emphasized that no individual, regardless of status or past achievements, would be spared in the fight against narcotics.

The agency has intensified its efforts to track and apprehend traffickers, deploying advanced intelligence and surveillance tools. Several kilograms of illicit drugs were seized, and suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
