The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two staff members of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), with one of the victims already rescued. The incident occurred on Monday evening, when armed men invaded the residence of the university staff and forcefully took them away.
Police spokesperson, DSP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, revealed that the command swiftly deployed its tactical team to the scene upon receiving a distress call. Their efforts led to the rescue of one of the abducted staff members, while operations are ongoing to locate and rescue the second victim.
One of the rescued victims has been identified as Mr. Omoniyi Eleyinmi, a senior administrative officer in the university’s Faculty of Education. His wife was reportedly present during the attack but managed to escape unharmed.
The police have assured the public that they are working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the remaining abductee and bring the perpetrators to justice. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could aid the investigation.
