On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Brigadier General Edward Odinya Ojabo, the Force Commander of the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB), visited the newly deployed NIGCOY 4 contingent of Nigerian troops in Bissau.
His visit followed a smooth transition from Contingent 3 to Contingent 4, and he took the opportunity to extend a warm welcome to the fresh batch of peacekeepers. Brig-Gen Ojabo emphasized the dual role they carry—as representatives of both Nigeria and ECOWAS—urging them to embody professionalism, unwavering discipline, and strong commitment throughout their tenure.
Brig-Gen Ojabo highlighted the pivotal importance of unity and collaboration in fulfilling the mission’s objectives. He reinforced that discipline and conduct are non-negotiable, noting that their individual behavior reflects on both Nigeria and ECOWAS as institutions.
