Milei vs Tinubu: Same Start, Different Outcomes — Argentina Progresses as Nigeria Declines, Says Peter Obi

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has compared the leadership trajectories of Argentina and Nigeria, highlighting the stark contrast in progress between the two nations despite their presidents assuming office around the same time. Obi noted that while Argentina, under President Javier Milei—who took office on December 10, 2023—has recorded notable improvements, Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu—who assumed office on May 29, 2023—appears to be experiencing worsening conditions.

According to Obi, although two years may not be enough to completely turn around a country’s fortunes, it is sufficient to initiate the process of transformation. He pointed out that Milei’s decisive economic reforms have already begun to yield visible results, while Nigeria continues to grapple with deepening economic hardship, governance issues, and social challenges. Obi stressed the need for bold and effective policies to reverse Nigeria’s current decline and set it on a path of genuine progress.
