A coalition of stakeholders from the oil-producing areas of Ondo State — including youths, women, community leaders and opinion-shapers — has issued a two-week ultimatum to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove Hon. Otito Atikase Ehinmore, the Ondo State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In a letter dated October 15 2025 and signed by nearly 50 youth delegates from the affected oil-producing communities, the group accused Atikase of gross misconduct, abuse of office, nepotism and complete disengagement from the communities he is supposed to represent.
The petition, addressed to President Tinubu and copied to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, asserted that since his appointment Atikase has been “invisible, inaccessible and unaccountable.” The youths claim he has failed to engage youth groups, traditional rulers or community stakeholders, turning the Ondo State seat on the NDDC board into what they described as a “ghost position” — thereby depriving the state of visibility and development benefits.
The letter declares: “Our position is driven by a deep sense of disappointment and betrayal. Since his appointment, Hon. Ehinmore has consistently demonstrated disconnection, irresponsibility, and self-serving conduct that grossly undermines the mandate of the NDDC and the trust of the people of Ondo State.”
Attempts to reach Atikase for comment were unsuccessful, as calls placed to him were not answered.
The youth coalition is now awaiting action, calling on the President to heed their demand and initiate the removal of their representative from the NDDC board within the stipulated fortnight.
