Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso has publicly declared that northern Nigeria is increasingly rallying behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he seeks re-election in 2027. According to him, recent political activity across the region shows a clear and growing momentum for Tinubu, fueled by cross-bloc support.
Kwankwaso cited the massive turnout that greeted Defence Minister and former Zamfara governor Bello Matawalle during his visit, interpreting it as proof that ordinary northerners are ready to back Tinubu again. He urged northern appointees and political leaders to step up grassroots sensitisation to highlight Tinubu’s achievements, especially through what he described as the transformational pillars of the “Renewed Hopes Agenda.”
He also praised Matawalle’s connection to his constituents, saying that his closeness to the grassroots has strengthened northern support for Tinubu. Kwankwaso emphasized that this trust isn’t limited to a small political circle, but is broadening across different political divides in the North.
