Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, better known by his stage name Baba Ijesha, has regained his freedom after spending more than three years in prison. His release came on Friday, November 14, 2025, following a successful appeal at the Court of Appeal.
The news was confirmed by fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi, who took to social media to celebrate the outcome, declaring: “You are now officially free and out. Baba Ijesha is not just back but better.” Fabiyi also emphasised the importance of due process, warning against letting emotions overshadow the rule of law.
Baba Ijesha had originally been sentenced to 16 years in prison by a Lagos State High Court on July 14, 2022, after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor. His conviction was eventually overturned on appeal, leading to his release.
His case sparked widespread debate, and Fabiyi’s reaction further highlighted concerns about how allegations — especially those involving minors — should be handled with sensitivity, truth, and care.
